2007 PAC-8 Championships

USC wins 2007 PAC-8 Championship Tournament

It was "deja vu all over again" at the 2007 Championship Game:  again USC faced Oregon for all the marbles (and hockey pucks);  again the big game to crown the season's champ went into overtime;  and, again, the USC Trojans prevailed, beating the Oregon Ducks, 4-3.

Just past the mid point of the game, the Ducks scored twice to leapfrog into the lead, when Cameron Forni scored and put the Oregon Ducks in the driver's seat. Intensity went into overdrive, as the Ducks and Trojans battled up and down the ice throughout the entire 3rd period. When the clock began to count inside the final minute of regulation, it looked like the Ducks would win the rematch of last year's Championship Game. But, the Trojans, not quite ready to pack their sticks away yet, scored with only 0:38 remaining in the 3rd period, forcing overtime for the second year in a row! The end-to-end action continued, with each team trying to get the puck in the goal and bring home a dream. Only 0:45 remained in overtime, when a Jake McKee shot deflected off Jason Filantres and past the Oregon goaltender to end the season and bring home another PAC-8 Championship trophy!

Ryan Seals, MVP, accepts his award
